Beer Bratwurst

Johnsonville Brats Original (uncooked) 3 packages (15 quantity) or more
sweet Vandalia onion, copped 2
Gulden's Spicy Brown mustard 1/2 bottle (other half for topping)
beer (Budweiser or something full) 10-12 cans of

Originally, this recipe was acquired by Randy from a friend in Wisconsin who knew his stuff. This has evolved to become a family favorite over the last 20+ years.

Directions

  1. Empty 10+ beer cans into large pot.
  2. Add mustard and onion to beer in pot.
  3. Take thawed Johnsonville Brats Original and place in pot.
  4. Par-boil brats for 60 minutes. Make sure not to overcook or boil, set on 3-4 of 10 for heat after initial boil.
  5. Start grill and remove brats from pot onto medium-high heat grill. Cook each side 2-4 minutes for grill marks and cooked through.
  6. Add brats back to beer and let sit on low for 3-8 hours. Serve out of pot when ready.
  7. Serve with hotdog buns, Gulden’s mustard and onion.
